Tinputz Launches 20 Days of Activism with International Children's Day Celebrations

The 20 Days of Activism campaign was officially launched today, November 20, 2024, coinciding with International Children's Day. The event, hosted at Tinputz Primary School, brought together community leaders, stakeholders, and the public to raise awareness on human rights, gender equality, and child protection.
The day began with a vibrant parade and march pass by students from Tinputz Primary School, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment to the campaign's goals. The Mistress of Ceremony, Ursula Rakova, Director of Tulele Peisa Inc. guided the program, which commenced at 9:00 AM and concluded at 2:00 PM.
The Chairlady of Tinputz delivered the welcome remarks and acceptance speech, emphasizing the importance of collective action in promoting children's rights and safeguarding their future. Presentations followed from key stakeholders, including representatives from Education, Health, Bougainville Women's Federation (BWF), Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation(NCfR), Bougainville Disabled Persons Organization (BDPO), and Law & Justice/APLJ/Police.
A highlight of the event was the presence of Mr. Desmond Ponpon, representing the Minister and Secretary for the Community Development Department in the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG).
Sergeant Mr. Tsimes and his team from the Bougainville Police also attended, reflecting the importance of a collaborative approach to addressing social challenges.
BWF North District Presidents under the leadership of BWF president for North Bougainville Helen Suimana and community members also joined the celebration, underscoring the campaign's inclusivity and broad community support.
Entertainment was provided by the Iruwe Keplavidi Wave Dance, captivating the audience with their dynamic performance that celebrated the cultural heritage of Bougainville.
The 20 Days of Activism campaign will continue commencing today November 20th - December 10th with activities aimed at empowering communities, advocating for human rights, and promoting positive change. The event was a resounding success, marking a strong start to this critical initiative.
